Back in the Garage and Gaining Momentum

It’s been a whirlwind few months here at GarageCraft3d. After wrapping up a productive spring focused on AI-driven customization, font integration, and layout automation, we took a short but much-needed break to recharge and spend time with family. As soon as school let out, we packed up and headed to Europe for a family vacation, exploring Spain and Italy and soaking in both inspiration and sunshine.

Now that we’re back stateside and recharged, we’ve jumped straight into production with some exciting new partnerships. We’ve been working closely with a handful of local brewers and distillers on custom-branded tap handles, each one tailored with precision 3D printing, laser engraving, and multi-color finish work straight from the GarageCraft3d shop. The response has been strong, and it’s clear there’s growing interest in high-quality, small-batch customization. Here is a recent batch of handles for #StudyBreak-HardSeltzers

Behind the scenes, we spent a significant portion of the spring pushing the limits of AI chatbot integration to guide customers through tap handle customization in real time. The concept was promising, but the complexity and development time quickly became disproportionate to the value it was creating. After many iterations, we made a strategic pivot. Rather than continuing to develop a full AI chatbot interface, we streamlined the user experience using a smart, structured Google Form. This approach gives us all the control and consistency we need to capture logos, text, font selections, and engraving preferences, without losing hours in debugging logic trees and conversation flows.

For now, the AI logic is still alive under the hood, driving things like layout automation and text/image formatting on the production side. But for the front-end experience, the Google Form has proven faster, simpler, and more reliable for both customers and the production workflow.

What’s next? We’re wrapping up refinements to our image formatting system to ensure every engraving fits perfectly into its designated zone, no matter the handle style. We’ve also resumed development on a fully offline, Jetson-powered design engine to support fast, localized rendering and model generation, especially helpful for larger production runs.
